The thing I love most about zebras is their wonderful patterns. And the fact that each zebra’s pattern is completely unique just blows me away. It’s actually harder than you might think to get a standout shot of a zebra. They are often quite nervous and flighty and can bolt just when you’re ready to take the shot. Or sometimes they will just turn their heads away - as if they’re playing with you. I like this shot because it captures the precise moment when the animal was really engaged with me. Here I’ve intentionally cropped tight on the zebra so I could focus in on the eyes and on his fascinating stripes. I’ve chosen to present the image in black and white as I feel it really lends itself to this medium.
