hide story
I loved the possibilities of this location, but a bright sky and a darkened foreground meant that it was almost impossible to shoot. Whilst there, I met a photographer friend from National Geographic. He felt that I would never be able to hold the sky and main subject together. He went off to find another angle, but I stayed on, praying that perhaps God would bless me. The sun set, and still the contrast was too great. Suddenly, just when it seemed there was no hope of a shot, there was an afterglow that created this immensely beautiful pastel light. It bounced off the cliffs behind me into the pool, allowing me to capture this spectacular five-minute exposure. Later my friend saw the shot and said, "You lucky dog!" To which I replied, "No! I´ve just got a great God!"
