Sydney Opera House is surely one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Throughout the daylight hours hordes of tourists flock to see this wonderful Australian icon but in the pre-dawn stillness there are very few people to be seen. It is a wonderful experience to sit quietly in the glow of first light and watch the city slowly come to life. The ferries begin traversing the harbour and the occasional person scurries by on his way to who knows where. As the sun rises, the light of day slowly overtakes the artificial lighting on the Opera House while Sydney´s other icon, The Harbour Bridge, hangs in the background. I took this shot while perched precariously on top of a cliff in front of Government House in the Royal Botanical Gardens.
