The last moments of sunset bid farewell to Norfolk Island’s north-west coast. This was a hard shot to hold together photographically, with the coloured foreground, the fiery sun on the horizon and the shadowed cliffs. But the result was a wonderfully moody panorama full of unexpected elements and even a dash of quirkiness. The boulders have been smoothed by countless big seas rolling in from the Pacific. Green algae cling to the surface of the rock, as if proving the tenacity of life. On the headland, a family of the famous Norfolk Island Pines stands majestically in silhouette. Interesting sights are everywhere on planet earth. We only need to find them.
