hide story
I chose a vertical format for this photo because it so beautifully caught the flow of the waterfall on its long plunge through the surrounding landscape. The foliage - steeped in the colors of the fall - is very important here. It places the waterfall in its natural context, without extending the view to things of secondary importance. Often in landscape photography it´s just a slice of a scene that tells the story. I had to hang off a cliff for this shot, and wait for the wind to drop. But the resultant photo made it all worth while - a vertical segment bursting with life that beautifully framed this untamed cascade.
