Ken Duncan is well known as the pioneer of Limited Edition Photographic Prints in Australia.
After a visit to New York in the early 1980's, Ken returned home with a dream to have photography
widely accepted as an art form in this country. The increasing number of Australian photographers now
emulating his panoramic style and finding a market for their work is testimony to Ken's success.
Ever the trend setter and still the market leader, Ken is deeply committed to researching and developing the
latest and best technology to bring photographic art into homes and offices right around the world. With every
new release he delights long-time collectors and new fans alike with his own inimitable style of landscape photography.
Each new exhibition is more vivid and stunning than the last.
Ken is truly passionate about his craft. Always striving for excellence, he travels extensively throughout
the world in search of the stunning panoramic landscapes - or Panographs - for which he is best known.
Recognised internationally as a gifted and prolific landscape photographer, Ken still chooses to describe
himself as "… an average photographer, with a great God - merely an interpreter of God's creation". The art, he says,
is in seeing, capturing and presenting these images to others. And this Ken does with his own unique style and his exceptional
ability to capture the very spirit of a place at a given moment in time.
Ken has worked on several international book projects in such exotic locations as Malaysia, China and Hollywood
and for years was the preferred photographer for Australian rock band Midnight Oil. His first solo book was published in
1987, and he later went on to become a publisher in his own right. Since 1992, over 30 individual titles have been released
under the Ken Duncan Panographs® trademark.
Although Ken prefers the panoramic format - "that's the way we see", he says - he is well versed in a
multitude of formats and media. He has even dabbled in cinematography and would like to do more with this
medium in the future. He can turn his hand to any type of photography - from portraits to landscapes to 3-D
and everything in between - and produce consistently creative results.
Ken Duncan Limited Edition Art Prints grace the walls of many fine homes and businesses right around the world.
The extent to which others share Ken's unique vision is demonstrated by the popularity of his books, the record prices
fetched by his Limited Edition Prints and the number of his national and international awards.
Some of the many awards that have been bestowed upon Ken and his photography are:
- International Diamond Awards for his photos of Australian rock band, Midnight Oil.
- International Music Photographer of the Year.
- ARIA Award for Midnight Oil album cover.
- Multiple gold and silver medals from Australia and America for the quality of his books and other printed product, including the coveted "Benny" Award in the U.S.A.
- Numerous awards from AIPP, ACMP and other photographic institutions.
- ACLS Design Awards in 1995 and 1996.
- Three awards at The Galley Club of Sydney in 2002, including their highest honour - the "Award for Excellence".
- Best newcomer and second best overall 3-D image in the international Southern Cross Stereo Competition in 2003.
- Five separate awards from The Galley Club of Sydney in 2003, including the coveted "Award for Excellence" once again
Ken Duncan's basic philosophy is best summed up by these words of truth from the Bible. "For since the creation
of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood
from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)
