FEEDBACK from past participants about their overseas adventure with Ken
It was the most enjoyable and rewarding holiday experience I’ve been lucky enough to have. It was an extremely well organised and run tour with a great bunch of people with a similar love of photography and everyone was also willing to help and offer advice. As a beginner I felt I was learning throughout, both about getting the most out of my camera and how to frame and take some wonderful photographs, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to go on another tour.
Travelling to Africa with Ken and Pam was a truly magnificent experience I will treasure forever. The mixture of adventure, wild nature, creature comforts and old world pampering left me feeling I had experienced a true old world safari from a bygone era. As a women travelling alone I felt safe and at ease while capturing Africa’s animal kingdom and very thankful for Ken’s patient guidance and practical advice.
The scenery was stunning, the accommodation top rate and, above all, the animals
were simply magnificent. Wherever we went the local people couldn’t have been more friendly welcoming us into their villages and allowing us to shoot their everyday life. At every stage we received excellent advice and tuition from Ken Duncan. This really was a trip of a lifetime and, as Ken said “if you can’t take pictures in Africa, you don’t know how to press the shutter”.
A truly amazing experience! Going on Safari was a lifetime dream and this trip certainly exceeded all my expectations. The photo opportunities were incredible and with the individual advice and tuition available I was able to take photographs that I had only previously dreamed of being able to achieve. The travel arrangements were excellent and the standard of food and accommodation could not be faulted. All in all a truly unforgettable experience and one I would love to repeat!
As a photographer and advocate for wildlife conservation, participating in an African Photo Safari was the fulfilment of a personal goal I've held for many years. The landscapes were diverse and overwhelmingly beautiful. Wildlife sightings were plentiful and being able to photographing them in their natural habitat was a huge thrill. The guides, rangers and lodge staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The accommodation and facilities were spacious and comfortable. Every aspect of the trip was managed and implemented flawlessly, which allowed me to simply relax and enjoy the trip. Being able to consult with an experienced photographer whilst on location was also a bonus, as I returned home with a large number of photographs I was proud to display as my own. It was the best holiday I have ever had and I will definitely be returning to Africa one day to continue the adventure.
As a widow travelling alone (with novice photography skills) any fears I had about "fitting in" or getting to know people and sharing a room with a stranger were quickly dispelled from the minute I met up with the group at Sydney airport. Welcoming smiles, hugs and introductions all round made for a great start to a most wonderful experience. With Ken and Pam at the helm casting their net of friendship over everyone and drawing us in like a close knit family, the time for me went far too quickly but oh so pleasantly. The whole trip was very well organized, with good local knowledge and a level of comfort that I have grown accustomed to as I grow older (and don't wish to live without). My photography skills are limited but I found that not only Ken but everyone was happy to pass on their knowledge and help in any way. I really enjoyed the early morning shoots, getting out there before sunrise with a group of like-minded people, something that is not quite so appealing on your own. So to anyone out there who is hesitant about travelling on your own I just have to say....don't be. Whether you share a room or not doesn't matter, the atmosphere is one of friendship and excitement. This African adventure was everything I expected it to be - and then some. I will be looking out for future trips with Ken & Pam and hope that I am able to go on many more.
