When you join Ken Duncan on this outstanding tour to Israel, Jordan and Egypt, you will have the thrill of experiencing – and photographing – this incredible part of the world, so rich in history and culture.
Ken has hand-picked the locations for this tour. And he will ensure you are in the right place, at the best time of day, to capture amazing photos. It doesn’t matter whether you are an experienced photographer or not. Even if you are using a compact camera – or your iPhone – you will come back with outstanding photos, and memories to last a lifetime.
On your very first day, you will visit the ancient Roman ruins at Jerash, for a great insight into life in a Roman city 2000 years ago. And it only gets better from then on. You will also visit the Jordan River, where Jesus was baptised, then travel the Kings highway to Petra. You will sail on the Sea of Galilee and journey into Bethlehem to the place where Jesus was born. You will wander ancient cobblestoned streets where you can’t help but feel the history of this region.
Ken will be with you all day, every day, to help you achieve the best possible shots. He will be photographing right alongside you and he is renowned for being very generous with his time and knowledge. You will visit Jericho, the oldest continuously inhabited city on earth. You will enjoy sunrise over Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. And you will have the opportunity to float in the Dead Sea, if you wish.
In Egypt, you will enjoy the thrill of a camel ride alongside the great pyramids of Giza at sunrise, and you will have time to see the new Egyptian Museum. Then it’s on to Luxor where you will settle into your luxury cabin on a private charter boat for your cruise down the mighty Nile River, stopping along the way to visit the tombs of the Pharaohs and magnificent ancient temples. Ken has joined forces with Selah Travel, based in Melbourne, to bring you this extravagant tour. The highlights are far too numerous to list here. But they are all included in your detailed itinerary. There is also the possibility of a 2-3 day extension at the end of the tour to go scuba diving in the Red Sea. What people have said about Ken Duncan photographic tours:
For me these trips are a way of seeing beautiful places with lovely people who share the same passion. Regardless of your level of skill, Ken willingly gives his time and invaluable experience to each and every person on the trip. I have learnt so much from being with him and looking at new places through his eyes.

If I were to be asked who were the best Australian landscape photographers in the last 25 years Ken Duncan would have to be right at the top of the list. To me the essentials of a successful photographic expedition are to be taken to the right places, at the right time, by the right people, to capture the best possible images. With Ken we had all those essential ingredients, and much more. Not only is Ken a superb photographer, he is an inspirational mentor – so patient and generous with his teaching and encouragement. It was a privilege to be with him on this expedition. Ken helped all the participants to create beautiful images. I cannot wait to join another Ken Duncan photographic expedition .

Thanks for a wonderful trip. I signed up for a unique photographic tour, and the trip well and truly fitted that bill! Not being much of a tour type person, I really appreciated the effort taken to get to places at more interesting times, and to avoid the crowds. The itinerary was just what I wanted and the organisation excellent. Being a “happy snapper”, I was expecting to be surrounded by more serious photographers. And I certainly saw the results that can be achieved by more effort and skill, and better equipment. But I also appreciated the time and encouragement provided to a “newbie”. This has spurred me on to try to improve. Thanks again, and I will be watching with great interest where you’re off to next.

The trip as a whole would appeal to any age group or photography skill level but I will give you my perspective – a widow travelling alone (with novice photography skills). Any fears I might have had about “fitting in” or getting to know people and sharing a room with a stranger were quickly dispelled from the minute I met up with Ken and Pam at Sydney airport. Welcoming smiles, hugs and introductions all round made for a great start to a most wonderful experience. With Ken and Pam at the helm, casting their net of friendship over everyone and drawing us in like a close-knit family, the time for me went far too quickly, but oh so pleasantly. Very well organized, good local knowledge and a level of comfort that as I have grown older, I don’t wish to live without. My photography skills are limited but I found that not only Ken but everyone was happy to pass on their knowledge and help in any way. I really enjoyed the early morning shoots, getting out there before sunrise with a group of like-minded people – something that is not quite so appealing on your own. So to anyone out there who is hesitant about travelling on your own I just have to say … don’t be. Whether you share a room or not doesn’t matter, the atmosphere is one of friendship and excitement. This adventure was everything I expected it to be – and then some. I will be looking out for future trips with Ken & Pam and hope that I am able to go on many more.

I’d personally like to thank you for all the work you did behind the scenes to ensure our adventure was a success. I had the most awesome experience and met some fantastic new friends.

The trip was everything that was promised. The mix of photographic opportunities, the high quality of meals and accommodation, and the group compatibility allowed me to really enjoy the trip. It was great to beat the crowds early in the morning at various locations.
