Ken Duncan’s Stitching Workshop
$2,495 per person – all inclusive
July 29 to July 31, 2022
You can join Ken Duncan for a 2-day Stitching Workshop on the beautiful NSW Central Coast.
If you know Ken, you will know he loves shooting in panoramic format. That’s because he believes it is one of the most pleasing visual formats for our senses. It’s how we see the world with our natural eyes. Ned Kelly even had a panoramic viewfinder in his famous bullet-proof helmet!
So, what is “stitching”? Stitching is achieved when you shoot multiple images of a scene, then join (or “stitch”) them together in a post-production program.
These days, most of Ken’s large panoramic images are made this way, shooting with his LUMIX full frame digital cameras. With this stitching technique you can achieve very large files, with incredible detail, perfect for producing wide panoramic prints.
If you want to create panoramic images with your digital camera, the best way is to learn how to stitch multiple images together. Just cropping the centre out of a square format image means you are losing pixels – and therefore losing quality.
Lots of people have asked Ken to share his knowledge of stitching – knowledge he has gained over many years. He realised the best way to do that is to run a workshop, so you can learn “hands-on”.
This is your chance to learn from Ken how to shoot multiple images and stitch them together.
Here’s what you will learn during Ken’s 2-day Stitching Workshop:
- Tips and techniques on composition for stitched panoramas;
- What camera settings you should be using;
- How to handle focus and aperture for stitching;
- How to handle even difficult stitches – for example, with moving water;
- What gear you will need for stitching – and what is the best gear to buy;
- How to set up your gear to ensure you are shooting on the nodal point of your lens;
- How to post-process your images to achieve panoramic files; … and even ….
- How to shoot stitched panoramas while hand holding your camera.
This is a hands-on workshop, with photo shoots on location, plus classroom sessions. Ken will take you to two great locations that provide different stitching challenges. And Ken will be right there with you to help you every step of the way.
Your workshop fee of $2,495 per person includes accommodation, all meals, transport to and from two great locations, plus classroom sessions to select, edit and post-process your images.
Until someone produces a digital panoramic camera, stitching is the best way to achieve stunning panoramas.
The key to stitching is getting the images right in the first place. Even if you don’t have post-processing skills, you will be taught how to shoot correctly for stitching. Then your files can be sent to a professional lab that will be able to readily post-process your files into a stitched panorama.
At the end of Ken’s workshop, you will know how to shoot correctly for stitching and how to post-process your images afterwards. You will also know the best gear to invest in to get it right, all the time.
And you will be offered significant discounts on some of the best gear that Ken recommends.
