We launched our trusty canoe into the lake in a dense fog at sunrise. I had seen these ghostly sentinels the previous day and felt they could look good in the right conditions. We paddled around on the vast lake for hours, virtually blinded by the thick fog, with no real idea of where we were. Finally, after much laughter at our situation, the mist suddenly lifted and we found ourselves in precisely the right spot. This just reminded me that not being in control of your own destiny can produce great results.
