The theme for last year’s Enlighten Workshop in Sydney was, “Turning Passion into Profession”. I feel very blessed to have been able to turn my passion for photography into a career – and I love helping inspire others do the same. It’s not an easy road – but then, nothing really worthwhile is easy!
If you can learn from someone who has already spent much time developing their skills, it certainly saves you a lot of time. It will save you from heading in wrong directions and having to learn by trial and error..
There are lots of people who run workshops on photography, but many of them don’t actually have any proven track record in the industry – except that they make a living from teaching others. They haven’t proven their knowledge in their own successful photographic business.
As someone who has learned a lot over many years, I feel it’s my responsibility to put back into the industry I love, so people can receive proven knowledge and skills which may help them to tell their story and to succeed to the highest possible level in their photographic journey.
I’m honoured to have been invited back to speak at Enlighten Melbourne in November this year. The speakers who will be presenting at Enlighten are all people I greatly admire – each one successful in his field. And they are all people I have personally learned things from over the years. In fact, I learned a lot from listening to their presentations just last year.
One of the best things about Enlighten is that it features a mix of presenters – some of the younger generation, plus myself and Peter Eastway, who has been in the industry with me for over 40 years.
And Melbourne is a beautiful city. I have many clients and friends there and I always look forwards to visiting. Actually, I’m a Mexican myself – born in Mildura – so I always love going back and being in beautiful Victoria.
We recently did a workshop in Wagga Wagga which was very well received. And we had many requests from people who had come from Melbourne, to go and do a workshop in their city. So here we go. Here’s your chance.
So if you’re a keen photographer and you’d like to know some of things you can do to turn your passion into a profession – either part time or full time – you should come along to Enlighten Melbourne, in November.
In the breaks you can speak to all of the presenters. We’re all very happy to answer any specific questions you may have. And please feel free to come up and chat to me personally. I look forward to catching up with you.

Every effort has been made on this Gallery site to accurately represent the vibrant colours of Ken’s images. However, due to differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only to be taken as a guide.
Obviously, the colour and sharpness of a finished Ken Duncan Limited Edition Print are far superior to what can be presented on a small screen.
